Portfolio Tips

  • Keep it professional, type all pages, and label entries that are not self-explanatory.
  • Remember the interviewer does not have a lot of time to read, so keep it brief.
  • All entries should be current. Keep your resume updated.
  • Use good bond paper and a quality folder.
  • Protect all entries by using plastic insert pages. Remember that many interviewers will be handling your portfolio.
  • Try to organize the portfolio so it flows. Put most important entries first. For example, philosophy, resume, degree, certifications, awards, and scholarships.
  • Use bulleted statements whenever possible. Bullets draw the eye to important entries and help the interviewer with short, clear, and concise information about you.
  • Don't forget to bring your professional portfolio to the interview.
  • Don't leave your professional portfolio at the interview unless you make arrangements to retrieve it.
