Volunteer With Campus Ministry
Do you remember waving your hand enthusiastically showing your willingness to help? That hand raising gesture so early on in your life demonstrated a willingness to volunteer. Here are some of the reasons why volunteering is so important to you and others:
- To help someone
- To improve the community
- To move from your comfort zone
- To build new relationships
- To enhance your resume and establish community connections
Campus Ministry offers many volunteer opportunities on campus and in communities near and far. Habitat for Humanity, Adopt a Grandparent, Haitian Relief, mission trips to New Orleans and Spring Alternative Break trips are just some of the ways you can help others.
Plans are being made to Lend a Hand in Puerto Rico in December 2018. If interested,
please reach out to Campus Ministry early in March 2018. You'll need to fill out an
application and submit it to Campus Ministry.
Lending a Hand Mission Trip
Twenty-six students and staff traveled to New Orleans to Lend a Hand. Service locations included Common Ground Relief, Youth Rebuilding New Orleans, and Second Harvest Food Bank. Each community service experience is exceptional. Our annual, week-long mission trip to New Orleans in December results in positive, life-changing experiences for students who participate.
York Street Clean Up and Beautification
Every year Campus Ministry organizes a group of students, faculty and staff to help clean up and beautify nearby York Street. We work with the neighbors tidy up the community garden and the sidewalks.
Adopt a Grandparent
Through the Adopt a Grandparent Program, students can socialize with adult residents at Mary Agnes Manor, a senior living facility adjacent to the DYC campus.
OTHER LOCAL SERVICE PROJECTS

Habitat for Humanity – help build a house in the Buffalo area twice a semester
Meals on Wheels – deliver meals to the house-bound and elderly
Neighborhood Halloween Party – help organize a party for neighborhood children and trick-or-treat fun on campus
